A baby on the way…

Our lovely friends are due to have a baby any minute now and I can’t wait to find out if they have a girl or a boy! I made these cards a while ago so I had one ready to go…

Baby cards - salt EC

I saw Jennifer McGuire create some backgrounds recently using salt and watercolours and I immediately wanted to try it out! It reminded me of my GCSE art days when we used to try loads of techniques for texture. I wet some watercolour paper and added some watercolour paint in different shades. Before it started to dry, I added some coarse and fine salt all over each background. Overnight, the salt soaked up some of the colour and left a gorgeous mottled pattern! I used a stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn to finish the background.

Baby card - salt x2 ECTo make the shaker, I die cut ‘hello’ using my Lawn Fawn scripty die cut and a stitched oval die. I stamped ‘sweet girl’ in rose ink and ‘little prince’ in fish tank ink – both sentiments were from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby stamp set.

Baby card - salt close up ECThe shaker has a mixture of Pretty Pink Posh sequins and chunky glitter so it sparkles and shines! A few sequins were added to the corners to bring the colours together.

Baby card - hello pink EC Baby card - hello blue ECI can’t wait to find out which card to write – will it be a sweet girl or a little prince?!
