How is it almost the end of 2015?!
This little blog has lacked some TLC over the last few months but I have been busy behind the scenes – you may have seen them over on Instagram but if not, here’s what I’ve been busy making :o)
I love this little fox from Lawn Fawn’s Into the Woods set. I wanted to try out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens again and they worked a treat!
Paulina, owner of Pretty Pink Posh, set a challenge to name her new sequin mix of greens and gold. I suggested “whimsical woodland” and she picked “whimsical forest” so I won a packet of 4mm and 6mm before they went on sale – happy days!
In November, I found a wooden advent calendar in hobbycraft which I couldn’t resist! I wanted to use my Mama Elephant Arctic Penguins which I bought last Christmas so started by painting the whole calendar with several coats of white acrylic paint. I cut the numbers from glitter paper using Lawn Fawn Louie’s 123’s and mounted on foam. I stamped, coloured and die cut a mixture of penguins and accessories and also mounted them on to foam to make them stand out. I stamped Milo’s ABC’s for the small numbers on the penguin doors and used PVA and a sparkly glitter to create a snow drift for each penguin to stand on. Once each door was decorated with a number or penguin, I filled up each drawer with two chocolates (one for me and one for my Fiancé!).
My Favorite Things released some gorgeous stamp sets just before Christmas. I picked up Sweet Safari stamps and dies, Leafy Greenery dies and the Adorable Elephants stamps and dies. I don’t normally use background stamps but really liked the Watercolor Stripes background. MFT also have some versatile grass dies so picked up a couple of those too.
We had a fabulous handmade piece of furniture added to our house and I wanted to create a card to say thank you. I wanted to use Lawn Fawn’s Owen’s ABC’s for the sentiment and decided to create a jungle style background using Distress Inks. I had an old stencil which I laid on top and used a baby wipe to rub off some of the ink to create the pattern. The Lawn Fawn stitched square die finished off the background and then I stamped, coloured and die cut the elephant, snake and leaves from Critters in the jungle.
For my family Christmas cards I wanted to try something without a critter (I know, almost impossible!). I love the Lawn Fawn snowflake dies so decided to make them a feature by paring them with a watercolour background and an embossed sentiment from Toboggan Together. Simple and straightforward without red and green in sight!
Just before Christmas is my Mum’s birthday. I knew the elephants from MFT would be perfect and chose to make a shaker card using Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins. The Lawn Fawn scalloped rectangle dies are definitely my favourite – you’ll be seeing them a lot! I love the small butterflies in this set along with the balloon and flowers. The new hollow dies from MFT make it so much easier to die cut, wahoo!
Lawn Fawn’s Baaah Humbug set is so cute. I used the two sheep facing each other and the sentiment “all i want for christmas is ewe” for my Fiancé’s Christmas card. I used blue Distress Ink for the background along with the forest border die for the tiny trees. I stamped and coloured the sheep faces with copics and used liquid appliqué for the fluffy wool. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins and mounted the card onto a glittery scalloped base. The santa hats finished the card nicely.
The Lawn Fawn December 2015 release included two new ink colours – they are amazing! Plastic flamingo and fresh lavender came out beautifully and I couldn’t wait to add them to my swatch folder and create labels for the ink pads, all courtesy of Jennifer McGuire’s downloads.
If you’ve made it to the end of this long post… thank you!
I can’t wait to create and share more in 2016 🙂
